World Children's Week 2007

Community involvement is a corner stone of McDonald's business approach.

At McDonald's being a good corporate citizen means
- Doing what is right
- Being a good neighbor and partner in the community
- Conducting business with the environment in mind

It is estimated that over 20 lakh children cannot see the world; over 75% of these can be cured.

McDonald's India (North & East) has taken a small step along with partners ORBIS International and Dr. Shroff's Charity Eye Hospital, Daryaganj, New Delhi to build awareness about the avoidable paediatric blindness and has instituted an annual fundraiser to conduct corrective surgeries of the visiually and economically disadvantaged children.

Mission of World Children's Week (WCW)

- Complementary eye check-ups to visually and economically challenged children.
- Create awareness about Pediatric ophthalmology
- Raise funds for sight saving surgeries for the needy

Over 30,000 students across 120 schools in North India between 6-11years of age participated in a painting competition on the theme ‘My Beautiful World’. The eminent jury comprising of renowned artists and painters extended their support to select 12 winning entries.

The winning entries have been converted into 3 greeting cards and are being sold across all McDonald’s restaurants in North & East India for raising funds. The proceeds from the sale of these cards will be utilised for ‘sight saving’ surgeries of the visually and economically disadvantaged children.
